Job summary

Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to shape enterprise AI across AI products, APIs, and integrations. You will ship AI-enabled solutions, build shared platform capabilities, and drive guardrails that enable safe, scalable adoption in a regulated banking environment.

The role is hands-on and collaborative, working with architects, engineers, and product teams to accelerate AI across BNZ while maintaining reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience building AI-powered solutions, such as agents, orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, or AI-enabled experiences.
• Experience building, onboarding, or operating shared technical capabilities like enterprise integrations or reusable tooling.
• Working knowledge of secure, production-ready delivery in regulated environments, including observability and identity controls.
• Experience with governance and guardrails development for platform standards and policy controls.
• Experience creating reusable libraries, SDKs, templates, and reference implementations.

Responsibilities

• Shipping AI-enabled products and platforms end-to-end.
• Building shared platform capabilities and reusable components.
• Improving engineering patterns and guardrails for safe AI adoption across BNZ.
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, and product teams across delivery and platform workstreams.
