Job summary

Tiaki Wai seeks a Senior Engineer Network Operations to monitor three waters networks, ensuring safe, reliable service. You will establish performance baselines, provide expert advice during incidents, and contribute to future control and monitoring solutions.

You will monitor real-time network performance, analyse trends, and develop tools and KPIs to improve efficiency and resilience across the water infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary engineering qualification and NZ Class 1 Driver Licence.
  • Experience monitoring and analysing water, wastewater and stormwater networks.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, SCADA/telemetry and control systems.
  • Experience developing operational procedures and KPIs to improve network performance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Job description

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

The remuneration range for this role is $112,118.39 to $158,284,79 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.

The opportunity

As Senior Engineer Network Operations, you will monitor the performance of Tiaki Wai’s three waters networks, ensuring they operate within established parameters and supporting safe, reliable service delivery to customers and communities. You will also establish trusted performance baselines, provide expert advice when network performance is reduced, and contribute technical expertise to future control and monitoring solutions.

You Will
  • Monitor real-time three waters network performance using SCADA, telemetry and operational data
  • Analyse trends, incidents and system data to identify risks, root causes and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and optimise performance monitoring tools, dashboards, reporting frameworks and operational KPIs
  • Advise on network performance, control and monitoring systems, including future upgrades and improvements
  • Lead technical decision-making during significant incidents and support rapid, safe service recovery
About You

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary engineering qualification and a full NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence
  • Proven experience monitoring and analysing water, wastewater and stormwater networks or comparable critical infrastructure
  • Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic systems, SCADA / telemetry and control systems
  • Experience developing operational procedures and KPIs to improve consistency and network performance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
