Job summary

Tiaki Wai in Wellington is seeking a wastewater operations specialist to monitor plant performance, support asset renewals and capital investment, manage compliance and operational risk, and drive continuous improvement across Wellington's wastewater plants.

You will coordinate with our treatment plant services contractor and internal teams, build strong relationships with contractors and regulators, and provide clear reporting to support informed decisions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in wastewater, chemical, process, environmental or asset management, or equivalent relevant on-the-job learning.
  • Experience overseeing and reporting on the operations and maintenance of water or wastewater treatment infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; engage confidently with stakeholders.

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. The remuneration range for this role is $86,230 to $121,736 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience

The opportunity

This role sits at the heart of wastewater treatment operations, connecting Tiaki Wai with our treatment plant services contractor and internal teams. You'll monitor plant performance, support asset renewals and capital investment, manage compliance and operational risks, and help drive continuous improvement across Wellington's wastewater treatment plants.

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A diploma in wastewater, chemical, process, environmental or asset management, or equivalent relevant on-the-job learning
  • Experience overseeing and reporting on the operations and maintenance of water or wastewater treatment infrastructure
  • Strong relationship management skills, with experience influencing performance and working collaboratively across multiple teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear reporting and engage confidently with a range of stakeholders
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure, manage changing priorities and maintain a practical, solutions-focused approach
