Job summary

Tait Communications in Christchurch seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our Terminals Team. You’ll develop embedded firmware for mission-critical radio products, with emphasis on Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi integration and platform-level software.

You will collaborate across hardware, firmware, and software teams in an agile environment to deliver robust, secure wireless solutions used in challenging field environments worldwide.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering embedded firmware for commercial products.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills and RTOS experience.
• Hands-on Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi integration and troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of wireless communication principles.
• Good debugging, problem solving and software design abilities.
• Experience working across platform and application layers in agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for mobile and portable radio products.
• Develop and support Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi solutions, including integration and optimization.
• Contribute to platform software, connectivity frameworks and firmware components.
• Investigate and resolve complex system and connectivity issues across the stack.
• Support integration of wireless tech, audio systems, and peripherals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features and enhancements.
• Drive continuous improvement in software quality and development practices.
• Contribute to future directions of wireless connectivity within products.
