Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd in Wellington, NZ, seeks a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to take hardware from schematic through to production for long‑lived products. The role covers design, verification, lab work, and collaboration with a close-knit hardware team onsite.

Required is a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with 5–10+ years of hands-on experience, strong analogue/digital design skills, and proven DFx capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years hands-on electronic design experience; close to 10 preferred.
• Strong analogue and digital circuit design skills with PCB layout capability.
• Proven track record from schematic through prototype, test and production release.
• Solid EMC design practice and testing against immunity requirements (ESD, surge).
• Experience specifying substitutions for long-life products.

Responsibilities

• Redesign and improve existing products from schematic capture to prototype, test, and production release.
• Contribute to new product development from concept through launch.
• Design analogue and digital circuitry with manufacturability, reliability and cost in mind.
• Produce manufacturing outputs and supporting documentation (fab/assembly data, BOMs, test records).
• Build, bring up, and debug prototype hardware at the bench.
• Plan and carry out design verification including EMC and immunity testing (ESD, surge, transients).
• Specify and qualify replacement components as parts reach end of life.
• Review supplier notices and assess impact on current designs.
• Assist production and support teams in diagnosing hardware issues and fixes.
• Lead engineering changes through formal release and mentor junior engineers.
