Beca is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and deliver electrical design for complex multidisciplinary projects across the water, wastewater, mining, industrial manufacturing, energy, and food sectors throughout New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. We are open to applicants throughout New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years' electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in LV/MV electrical systems, power distribution & motor control for large projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver practical, innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of electrical projects, managing design scope, budgets, schedules and resources.
• Oversee detailed design of electrical systems for complex industrial and water projects.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and graduates.
• Support project delivery from planning through to commissioning and handover.
• Build client relationships and contribute to business growth through proposals and tenders.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Leading the delivery of electrical projects, and managing design scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and overall project execution.
• Undertaking and overseeing the detailed design of electrical systems, including power distribution, low voltage systems, and associated infrastructure for complex industrial and water projects.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and graduates, including technical reviews and design verification activities.
• Supporting project delivery from planning through to commissioning, including engineering estimates, proposals, procurement support, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Building strong client relationships and contributing to business growth through proposal development, tender submissions, repeat business opportunities, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Championing health, safety, and quality excellence by participating in risk assessments, design safety reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ko wai koe | About you

You are a qualified Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience. You possess extensive experience in the design of LV and MV electrical systems, power distribution, motor control, and electrical infrastructure for large capital projects. You are a seasoned project leader who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, innovative engineering solutions which create positive client and community outcomes.

In Addition, You’ll Bring

• Experience delivering detailed electrical design for heavy industrial, water and wastewater projects within consultancy environments, including large multidisciplinary greenfield and brownfield developments.
• Good knowledge of Australian and NZ Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008), Electrical Safety Regulations, IEC and IEE Standards, and utility connection requirements
• Powercad or other electrical modelling software

The Following Requirements Are Desirable, But Not Essential

• Experience working across the NZ, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific markets
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or the eligibility to obtain chartership
• Design and construction support experience
• Contractor and vendor management experience
