Bank of New Zealand is seeking an Intermediate Developer to join the Whakatau team. You will build, maintain and support secure Java/Spring Boot APIs, handle data pipelines and contribute to credit decisioning platforms.
Based in Auckland or Wellington with a 3 days in-office, 2 days remote hybrid pattern. You will work with AWS, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and ensure system health and security while growing technical expertise.

Mō te Tūranga | About the tūranga
As an Intermediate Developer in the Whakatau team, you will apply your software engineering, analysis and testing skills to build, maintain and support secure and reliable technology solutions.
You will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to APIs, integrations, data pipelines and the ongoing management of our credit decisioning platform. You will take ownership of well-defined technical work while continuing to grow your engineering and platform knowledge.
This position can be based at either our Auckland or Wellington office.
The role is hybrid with 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week working from home.

Whakatau is a small, collaborative and high-ownership platform team consisting of a Platform Owner, Business Analyst, Data Engineer, Senior Technical Specialist and a Sr. Developer.

You will work within the Credit Risk area to develop, integrate and support solutions used for credit decisioning.
This will include contributing to APIs, data pipelines, cloud services and integrations with SaaS and COTS products. You will also help ensure our platforms remain secure, compliant, reliable and well supported.
