Job summary

Z Energy is seeking a Kaipūhanga Raraunga Mātāmua Senior Data Engineer to drive data architecture, modelling and engineering across loyalty and CRM initiatives in NZ and AU. You will collaborate with product, data and engineering teams to deliver scalable data platforms using Databricks, Snowflake, Azure and Terraform.

This role emphasizes leadership, governance and observability, with a focus on shaping data solutions that unlock customer insights and measurable outcomes for a changing energy

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering modern data engineering solutions within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise across Databricks and Snowflake with multiple data platform technologies.
• Deep capability in data modelling and data engineering across three disciplines.
• Strong grasp of data architecture principles.
• Advanced SQL and Python skills for scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with Azure data services (Data Factory, Data Lake) and cloud-native platforms.
• Familiarity with Terraform, IaC and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of data governance, security, observability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise modern data pipelines, data products and customer data solutions using Databricks, Snowflake and Azure.
• Support data architecture and high-level solution design with Group Data Architecture teams.
• Develop scalable data models supporting loyalty, CRM and MarTech across Australia and NZ.
• Collaborate with business to translate requirements into actionable data solutions.
• Deliver production-grade data platforms with quality, performance, governance and reliability.
