Job summary

Z Energy NZ is seeking a Kaipūhanga Raraunga Mātāmua Senior Data Engineer to lead data engineering, architecture and modelling for loyalty and CRM initiatives across New Zealand and Australia. You will partner with stakeholders to shape data solutions and guide the evolution of customer data platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering modern data engineering solutions within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise across Databricks and Snowflake with ability to evaluate multiple data platform technologies.
• Deep data modeling and data engineering capability across disciplines.
• Strong grasp of data architecture principles.
• Advanced SQL and Python skills for scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with Azure data services (Data Factory, Data Lake).
• Familiarity with Terraform, IaC and modern CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of data governance, security, observability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise modern data pipelines and data products using Databricks, Snowflake and Azure.
• Support data architecture and high-level solution design with Group Data Architecture teams.
• Develop scalable data models for customer, loyalty, CRM and MarTech initiatives across NZ and AU.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions.
• Deliver production-grade data platforms with emphasis on quality, performance, governance and reliability.
• Implement observability, including monitoring, lineage, logging and data quality controls.
• Contribute to technical direction and architectural decision-making.
• Mentor engineers and uplift capability through coaching and reviews.
• Champion Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and automation.
• Collaborate across product, engineering and data teams to deliver outcomes.
