Job summary

The Warehouse Group (TWG) is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and optimise scalable data solutions across a modern cloud data ecosystem. You will partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical outcomes and mentor peers in data engineering best practices.

In this role you will shape enterprise data platforms, drive quality and security, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of TWG's data capabilities in a hybrid Auckland-based environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering and enterprise-scale data solutions.
• Strong expertise in modern data architecture and cloud platforms.
• Advanced SQL development and performance optimisation.
• Extensive experience with Snowflake and data warehousing practices.
• Expert-level dbt development and data transformation.
• Experience with Azure data technologies and ETL/ELT design.
• Data warehousing and dimensional modelling.
• CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Airflow or similar orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Lead data architecture design, models, and integration patterns.
• Champion data quality, governance, and security across the data ecosystem.
• Drive performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of data platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
• Mentor other Data Engineers and promote continuous improvement.
• Contribute to strategic data platform evolution and governance.
