Job summary

Silver Fern Farms is seeking a Senior Commercial Analyst to join the Commercial Operations team for a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover. You will partner with manufacturing site leaders to turn data into insights, drive budgeting and forecasting, and prepare business cases for key initiatives.

The role involves cross-site analysis across labour, plant overheads and efficiency metrics, with strong emphasis on commercial decision-making and performance reporting.

Qualifications

• CA qualified or equivalent commercial experience preferred.
• Experience in commercial finance, management accounting or commercial analysis.
• Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Power BI, Databricks or similar analytics tools.
• Manufacturing or industrial sector experience is valued.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial Operations team on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover.

Partnering closely with operational leaders across our manufacturing network, you'll help shape commercial decisions through insightful analysis, financial modelling and performance reporting. You'll work across a broad range of operational costs, from labour and plant overheads through to major business initiatives, helping leaders understand performance, identify opportunities and make informed decisions.

Based in either Christchurch or Dunedin, this is a highly visible role where you'll build strong relationships across our sites and become a trusted advisor to operational stakeholders. If you enjoy turning complex data into practical insights and influencing real business outcomes, this could be the opportunity for you.

You're a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys understanding how a business operates and what drives performance. You love getting beneath the numbers, making sense of complexity and presenting insights in a way that is easy for others to understand. Just as importantly, you're proactive in building relationships and enjoy working alongside operational teams to drive better business outcomes.

Ideally, you'll be a Chartered Accountant (CA), although we'll also consider candidates with equivalent commercial experience and a proven track record in a similar role.

You'll bring:

• Experience in commercial finance, management accounting or commercial analysis.
• Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Power BI, Databricks or similar analytics tools.
• A solid understanding of operational performance metrics, efficiency and utilisation.
• Experience preparing business cases, ROI analysis and scenario modelling.
• Manufacturing, processing or industrial sector experience would be highly valued.
