Job summary

Westpac New Zealand seeks a Senior Business Analyst to shape and deliver meaningful change across product, operations, technology, risk and design. You will lead analysis from discovery through delivery, defining problems and outcomes while exploring process, data and system impacts.

This hands-on senior role brings clarity to ambiguity, facilitates decisions, communicates complex information clearly, and mentors analysts to lift practice and quality across teams.

Qualifications

• Substantial senior-level Business Analysis experience delivering complex change across business and technology environments.
• Broad toolkit spanning discovery, requirements, process, data, systems, and customer experience.
• Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance decision-making, accelerate delivery and elevate BA practices.
• Experience across multiple delivery approaches: Agile, Waterfall and Kanban; adapt approaches to context.
• Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across levels and disciplines.
• Ability to explain complex business and technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Collaborative, pragmatic and outcome-focused with focus on customer value and quality delivery.
• Experience coaching or mentoring analysts to strengthen analysis practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and analysis to define the problem, outcomes, scope, assumptions and measures of success.
• Elicit, analyse, prioritise and document business, customer, process, data and system needs with fit-for-purpose techniques.
• Translate needs into clear business and functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria with traceability.
• Analyse current and future-state processes, journeys, business rules and information flows.
• Partner with Product Owners, delivery leads, engineers and design teams to refine options and deliver quality.
• Facilitate workshops and decision-making forums to surface perspectives and build shared understanding.
• Identify dependencies, risks and operational impacts early; support readiness and change adoption.
• Support options appraisal, business cases and governance artefacts where required.
• Keep analysis current, proportionate and accessible for informed decisions.
• Provide thought leadership with evidence and customer perspectives to complex challenges.
• Coach and mentor analysts to improve analysis practices.
