Job summary

Tower Insurance in New Zealand is seeking a senior Business Analyst to help shape customer-centric solutions. You will guide thinking, translate strategy into actionable outcomes, and work with POs, PMs, designers, and stakeholders to deliver meaningful improvements.

You will mentor junior BAs, manage backlogs, and explore how data, automation and AI can unlock value while maintaining Tower's guardrails. A customer-first mindset and experience across IT in insurance are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in business analysis across Agile and Waterfall.
• Strong ability to translate strategy into actionable requirements.
• Mentor junior BAs and contribute to capability building.

• Experience with data, AI and automation is a plus.

Your day-to-day would look like:

• Deep knowledge and insight of customer needs and stakeholder's desired outcomes so that you can be a guide to the thinking and outcomes;
• Mapping current and future state processes; Challenging existing ways of working, and identifying opportunities to leverage data, automation and AI to create innovative customer and business outcomes.
• Mentoring junior BAs, supporting their performance and wellbeing and contributing to strengthening the overall BA practice and capability.
• Working closely with Business Owners, delivery leads and senior stakeholders to translate strategy into actionable outcomes.
• Manage backlogs, lead discovery and refinement activities, and continuously explore how emerging technologies and AI can enable better customer experiences and business value.
• Influencing outcomes towards driving better values and benefits; Thinking beyond traditional requirements gathering by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, enhance decision making, and unlock value through data, automation and AI.
• Constantly innovating to do things differently, experimenting with AI and quickly landing on the ways to produce the best impact to our customers and to our stakeholders
• Applying data insights to inform decisions, understand customer behavior, and leverage technology to enable new capabilities and thereby helping business leaders understand what's possible.
• Thinking beyond traditional requirements gathering by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, enhance decision making, and unlock value through data, automation and AI.

• Being a trusted advisor, providing clear, concept driven business analysis guidance and leading requirements activities that shape high quality, customer centric solutions.
• Mentoring and uplifting junior BAs, owning analysis artefacts in your work area and actively contributing to strengthening the capability, maturity, and reputation of the BA practice.
• Championing Agile delivery, confidently managing backlogs, supporting squad performance and wellbeing, and helping the team deliver value early through Agile and Lean principles.
• Translating strategy into action, collaborating closely with POs, PMs, designers, and stakeholders to break down strategic goals, understand customer journeys, and turn insights into clear, actionable work.
• Harnessing data and technology, using analytics to guide decision making and helping business leaders understand and explore new technology-enabled opportunities.
• Leading strong engagement and facilitation, running effective workshops, maintaining continuous stakeholder collaboration, and sharing your expertise across BAs, Engineers, and QA to improve alignment and delivery outcomes.
• Championing the use of AI within Tower's guardrails to enhance quality of BA deliverables contributing to realised value and benefits

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

• A strong customer-first mindset with a bias for getting things done
• Significant experience in Information Technology & IT, ideally within insurance
• A track record of driving innovation and influencing outcomes beyond individual projects, identifying opportunities to improve customer experiences, processes and business performance.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and technical teams to deliver practical solutions (using tools such as Confluence, Jira and Miro)
• End-to-end ownership of discovery, requirements and user stories, bringing together customer experience, design, business objectives, data insights and technical solutions into cohesive outcomes. Working closely with Engineering and QA as "Three Amigos"
• Strong grounding in business analysis across both Agile and Waterfall, with a passion for championing best practice
• Ability to break down complex work, deliver value early, and approach problems with curiosity and bold thinking
• Embracing AI use and being an active member of the thriving AI enablement and adoption community at Tower
