Job summary

Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is looking for a Senior Automation Tester to join our Core Ledger Replacement programme in Wellington on a fixed-term basis through November 2028. You will lead test strategy, automation architecture, and quality governance across multiple systems and teams.

You will mentor staff, promote modern testing practices, and ensure quality is embedded across the SDLC while collaborating with developers, analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver resilient solutions.

Qualifications

• Senior experience in quality engineering with automation.
• Experience designing and implementing test strategies, frameworks, and tooling.
• Proficiency with REST Assured and JMeter.
• Ability to lead automation strategy with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead test strategy, automation architecture, and quality practices across multiple systems, products, and teams.
• Contribute to shaping the overall quality approach, aligned with objectives, standards and delivery outcomes.
• Establish scalable automation frameworks, drive continuous improvement, promote modern testing practices.
• Embed quality thinking throughout the SDLC, partnering with developers, analysts, product owners, and stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to uplift testing capability and automation skills.
• Balance delivery priorities with quality outcomes to support short-term and long-term goals.
• Champion robust test design, reliable automation, and governance for fit-for-purpose solutions.
