Job summary

Kirk Roberts Consulting Engineers Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Technician in Christchurch to own projects from concept through to detailed design and construction. You will deliver high-quality architectural documentation and coordinate across structural, civil, geotechnical and other disciplines with clients and internal teams.

You will lead BIM documentation using Revit, support contract administration and guide junior staff, advancing architectural tools and processes

Qualifications

• Experienced Architectural Technician with NZ consultancy/construction experience.
• Strong Revit and BIM documentation skills.
• Ability to independently manage project documentation and deliverables.
• Knowledge of NZ Building Code and consent processes.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Architectural Technician to join our team in Christchurch.

This is a role for someone who can take ownership of projects from concept through to detailed design and construction, producing high-quality documentation while coordinating closely with clients, consultants and our wider engineering teams.

About the role

As a Senior Architectural Technician, you’ll take ownership of projects from concept through to detailed design and construction, working across the design and planning stages to deliver high-quality architectural documentation. You’ll work closely with clients, consultants and our wider multidisciplinary engineering teams, coordinating project deliverables and ensuring documentation is practical, accurate and ready for each stage of the project.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Leading the preparation and coordination of architectural project documentation from concept through to construction
• Producing BIM documentation, drawings and specifications using Revit
• Coordinating architectural documentation with structural, civil, geotechnical and other disciplines
• Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams throughout project delivery
• Supporting project administration, contract management, site meetings and inspections
• Providing technical guidance and support to less experienced team members
• Developing and maintaining architectural tools, templates, specifications and processes

About you

You’ll be an experienced Architectural Technician who is confident taking ownership of projects and working through the full design and documentation process. You’ll bring strong technical capability, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate effectively across a multidisciplinary project team.

You’ll ideally have:

• A relevant architectural qualification (technician or architecture), and significant experience within a New Zealand consultancy or construction industry.
• Strong Revit and BIM documentation skills
• Commitment to design excellence, with extensive design knowledge from conceptual design, preliminary, developed and detailed design, to tendering and contract administration
• Experience taking projects from concept through to construction
• Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and consent processes
• The ability to independently manage project documentation and deliverables
• Excellent coordination and communication skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to design and project delivery
• The confidence to guide and support less experienced team members
• Experience working in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Lumion, and Illustrator; would be an advantage but not essential
