Bank of New Zealand is seeking a Senior Developer to join the Cards & Merchants team in Auckland. You will design, build, and support secure, resilient APIs and integration services that improve reliability and customer outcomes.

The role emphasizes hands-on backend engineering, technical leadership, and collaboration with product, architecture, and security teams. You will own complex features end-to-end, contribute to production readiness, and mentor others while navigating a regulated banking

Competenze

• 7+ years of relevant professional engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and API contracts.
• Knowledge of gateway-based integrations with Kong and JWT.
• Proficient with Gradle and container platforms (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
• CI/CD familiarity: Bitbucket, Jenkins, Spinnaker.
• Secrets management with HashiCorp Vault.
• Messaging with IBM MQ or Kafka; PostgreSQL Aurora.
• Testing with JUnit, REST Assured and TestNG.
