Job summary

New Plymouth Girls' High School (NPGHS) seeks an experienced and inspirational leader for our Learning Support Department to commence in 2027. The role focuses on guiding staff, including approximately 10 teacher aides, to improve outcomes for students with diverse learning needs.

The role involves working with the AFL program and Waimaire unit, requiring strong communication, collaboration with whānau and external agencies, and NZ teacher registration.

Qualifications

• Experience in SAC/SENCO or a similar school role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for building relationships with students, staff, whānau and external agencies.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff, including teacher aides.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Learning Support Department and its staff.
• Collaborate with AFL (Awhina Focused Learning) and Waimarie units.
• Liaise with the Head of Waimarie and integrate individualised learning plans.
• Support students with diverse learning needs and aid their progression back to mainstream or life-skills pathways.
