Job summary

Red Badge Group in Hamilton is seeking professional, reliable Security Officers and Security Guards to join our teams across retail, tertiary, and construction sites. You’ll be a visible security presence, providing frontline service while keeping people safe.

Roles include day and night shifts, weekends, and rotating rosters. Training is provided; prior experience is an advantage but not required. Applicants must have NZ COA or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

• NZ COA certification or willingness to obtain one.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Full Clean New Zealand Drivers License.
• Clean criminal history (MOJ checks required).

Responsibilities

• Providing frontline security and customer service.
• Patrolling sites and monitoring behaviour and activity.
• Responding to incidents calmly and in line with procedures.
• De-escalation and conflict management, including high-risk situations where required.
• Access control and monitoring of restricted areas.
• Accurate incident reporting and communication with site contacts.
• Working collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and emergency services.

Red Badge Group is New Zealand’s leading independent security and customer management provider. We’re looking for professional, reliable Security Officers and Security Guards to join our teams across a range of environments in Hamilton, including retail, tertiary, and construction sites.

We have both permanent and fixed term part time and full time roles available, both days and night shift roles available. All rosters will include at least one weekend day/night.

About the Role

You’ll be a visible and approachable security presence, responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Duties may vary by site but can include:

• Providing frontline security and customer service

• Patrolling sites and monitoring behaviour and activity

• Responding to incidents calmly, professionally, and in line with procedures

• De‑escalation and conflict management, including high-risk situations where required

• Access control and monitoring of restricted areas

• Accurate incident reporting and communication with site contacts

• Working collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and emergency services

Roles are available across days, nights, weekends, and rotating rosters, depending on site requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Calm, professional approach under pressure

• Good judgement and situational awareness

• Physical fitness (roles may involve long periods on your feet)

• Reliability, integrity, and a team‑first attitude

• Ability to follow procedures and maintain detailed reports

• Must be available to work at least one weekend day per week minimum.

Previous security experience is an advantage but not essential. We provide training and support for the right candidates.
