Retail Security Guard – Customer-Focused Patrol

Job description

Support one of Auckland's busiest retail environments, customer-focused incident response, and effective coordination with mall management and emergency services. This role helps keep LynnMall a safe, welcoming and operating smoothly for retailers, staff, contractors and the public.

We have 2 roles going currently - 1 part time and 1 full time, both working a mix of day and evening shifts on rotating days of the week including at least 1 weekend day per week, successful candidates must be flexible on shift availability.

The role

As a Retail Security Guard at LynnMall you will provide a visible, professional security presence across the centre. You will deter theft and anti-social behaviour, respond to incidents, support access and crowd management, and deliver excellent customer service to shoppers, retailers and centre staff. The role combines patrols, incident reporting and coordination with mall management and emergency services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Patrol shopping centre common areas, carparks and store frontages to deter loss and anti-social behaviour.
• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, alarms and customer concerns, escalating to mall management or emergency services as required.
• Provide friendly, customer-focused assistance and directions to shoppers while maintaining a security focus.
• Support safe access for deliveries, contractors and service providers, and assist with crowd and event management when needed.
• Prepare accurate incident and shift handover reports, maintain logs and ensure continuity between shifts.
• Work closely with mall management, retailers and the wider Red Badge team to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Comply with company policies, site procedures and privacy requirements when handling sensitive information and CCTV footage.

What You'll Bring

• A current and valid New Zealand Certificate of Approval (COA) security licence, or eligibility to obtain one (we can assist with the process).
• A clean criminal record and the ability to pass employment screening checks.
• Previous retail security, loss prevention, customer service or similar experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong communication, observation and reporting skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Professional presentation, high integrity and respect for confidentiality.
• Reliable, flexible and safety-focused with a customer-first mindset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team across day, evening and weekend shifts.
• Eligible to work in New Zealand and 18 years or older.
