Ara Institute of Canterbury – Christchurch, South Island is seeking a dynamic Casual Tutor to support Foundation and Pathways learners at Levels 3 and 4 in Science, Literacy and Mathematics. You’ll engage diverse learners and create relevant, hands-on lessons.

The role emphasizes building relationships, managing inclusive classrooms, and delivering creative teaching that helps students progress toward further study or employment.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification is required.
• Experience with diverse learners is valued.
• Ability to manage classroom environments confidently and maintain boundaries.

We're on the hunt for a dynamic Casual Tutor to join our Foundation and Pathways team, supporting Level 3 and 4 learners in Science, Literacy and/or Mathematics. If you're an experienced educator who knows how to connect with diverse learners, manage classroom environments with confidence, and make learning relevant, we'd love to hear from you. In your cover letter, let us know which area/s you feel confident teaching.

• A talent for building genuine relationships with learners
• A relevant tertiary qualification
• Expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Science, Literacy and Mathematics
• Experience working with young people and adults who may have faced barriers to education
• The ability to hold boundaries while maintaining a positive, learner-focused environment
• Creativity, humour, patience, and an engaging teaching style
• A passion for helping learners build confidence, capability, and pathways into further study or employment
