Ara Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch, South Island, is seeking a Casual Tutor to support Level 3 and 4 learners in Science, Literacy and/or Mathematics. If you're an experienced educator who knows how to connect with diverse learners, manage classroom environments with confidence, and make learning relevant, we'd love to hear from you.

Qualifications

• A talent for building genuine relationships with learners
• Previous teaching experience - either tertiary or secondary
• A relevant tertiary qualification
• Expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Science, Literacy and Mathematics
• Experience working with young people and adults who may have faced barriers to education
• The ability to hold boundaries while maintaining a positive, learner-focused environment
• Creativity, humour, patience, and an engaging teaching style
• A passion for helping learners build confidence, capability, and pathways into further study or employment

Responsibilities

• Support Level 3 and 4 learners to achieve their goals
• Deliver creative lessons that keep learners engaged
• Teach and support learners across Science, Literacy and Mathematics programmes, depending on your skills and experience
