Job summary

St Margaret's College in Christchurch, NZ (Merivale) is seeking a fully trained School Chef to join our catering team. This 40-hour-per-week role runs primarily during term time, with weekend and school holiday shifts as needed.

You will prepare meals for boarding students, day girls, on-site café and events, handling a varied menu from lunch and dinner to catering for functions, using your commercial kitchen skills and working with Kitchen Assistants.

Qualifications

• Fully trained and experienced Chef.
• NZ residency and NZ driver's licence required.
• 6+ years’ experience in a commercial kitchen delivering for large numbers.
• Experience with a varied menu including baking and canapes for events.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver meals for boarding house, day girls, on-site café and catered functions.
• Work with Kitchen Assistants to maintain quality and workflow.

The role

We are currently seeking a fully trained and experienced Chef who is motivated, fun and enthusiastic to join our great team. This is a great role with a roster that supports a flexible workplace.

About the team

We are a great team who are hardworking, proactive and work collaboratively to successfully prepare and deliver meals for our Boarding house, days girls, on site café and a wide variety of catered functions and events.

The hours

This is a permanent position, primarily during term time, with rotational shifts on the weekend and school holidays as we provide catering to our preschool and events. Shifts are scheduled between 10.30am and 7.00pm; weekend shifts and specific rosters will be confirmed upon offer.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will be reliable, organised, trustworthy and thrive in a professional environment. You will enjoy a range of cooking, from baking to canapesfor events, to cooking lunch and dinner for our students, preparation for the following day working with great Kitchen Assistants.

You will bring your knowledge and experience in catering and hospitality, ideally with at least 6+ years’ experience in a commercialkitchen,delivering for large numbers of people with a varied menu.

Requirements

A Full New Zealand Drivers licence and permanent New Zealand residency is required to apply for this position.
