Job summary

Queen Margaret College in Wellington Central seeks an experienced Chef de Partie to join a dedicated kitchen team. You will prepare, cook and plate high-quality dishes, maintain food hygiene and safety, and support menu planning and daily ordering. This permanent full-time role is 40 hours per week rostered, term-time only with some holiday work, and includes uniforms. Applicants must be able to live and work in Aotearoa New Zealand and work weekends/public holidays.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Chef de Partie with professional kitchen experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and plate high-quality dishes and maintain presentation standards.
  • Maintain food hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety at all times.
  • Support themed menu planning and daily ordering.
  • Ensure food safety and compliance with boarding kitchen regulations.
  • Manage dietary requirements and portion planning.
  • Handle café counter service, cash and EFTPOS transactions.
  • Assist with catering for school events and functions.
  • Strong communication and a positive attitude.

  • Prepare, cook and plate high-quality dishes and maintain high presentation standards

  • Manage dietary requirements and portion planning

  • Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Great communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal, and nutritious food
  • Deep understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients and equipment pertinent to recipes
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, multitask and coordinate with other team members
  • Proven Experience as a chef in a professional kitchen environment
  • Be available to work weekends and public holidays
