Job summary

Compass Group New Zealand is seeking an experienced Casual Chef to join our team at CHT Overheads in South Auckland. This flexible casual role offers shifts across a 7-day roster, providing work as required based on business needs and your availability.

This is more than a traditional Chef position, offering opportunities to lead kitchen operations, supervise team members, support staff development, and contribute to the overall success of the site.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Cookery qualification or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience within a hospitality setting.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills.
• Reliable, physically fit, and available to work across a flexible 7-day roster.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality meals in line with menu requirements and client expectations
• Assist with menu planning, food production, and stock management activities
• Manage ordering processes and monitor catering supplies and inventory levels
• Lead, support, and motivate team members while maintaining operational standards
• Ensure food safety, quality assurance, and compliance requirements are consistently met
• Deliver excellent customer service and assist with the coordination of onsite functions
