Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with ingredients and cooking equipment
• Check ingredients for quality and freshness
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes using different utensils and grills
• Season, portion and add sauces during/after cooking
• Prepare food to meet dietary needs and client tastes
• Store and reserve food at correct temperatures, maintain facilities
• Ensure equipment cleanliness and safety compliance
• Assist in planning menus and estimating food and labour costs
• Assist with training and supervising kitchen staff when required

We are a well-established restaurant based in Greymouth. To enhance our team, we are now looking for 2 Cooks to join our team. We are expecting someone who has a passion for food, attention to details, ability to multi task and be a proactive member of the team.

Ideal candidates should have at least 1 year’s work experience in the same industry/field, OR have a relevant level 4 qualification or equivalent certificates.

You are required to:

• Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment


• Checking ingredients to make sure the quality and freshness


• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in various utensils and grillers


• Seasoning, portioning, adding sauces to the dish during/after cooking


• Preparing food to meet client’s taste and dietary needs


• Storing and reserving food to the right temperature and facilities


• Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.


• Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of machines before each run, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations


• Assisting in planning menus, estimating food and labour costs


• Assisting with training and supervising kitchen staff whenever required
