Job summary

NIOM BISTRO LIMITED T/A NIOM BISTRO in Wellington is looking for two cooks to join the kitchen team and ensure smooth restaurant operation. Responsibilities include preparing delightful food, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety.

The role requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience or NZQF Level 2 substitution, training provided, and the ability to work across shifts including evenings and weekends at 169 RIDDIFORD STREET, NEWTOWN, WELLINGTON 6021.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food as per menu, including plating and garnishes.
• Assist with stock recording and informing manager about ordering needs.

NIOM BISTRO LIMITED T/A NIOM BISTRO is looking for TWO talented COOKS at Wellington, and where you will be responsible for ensuring the restaurant’s smooth kitchen operation and customer satisfaction by preparing delightful food. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week with a pay rate between $23.50 to $27.00/- an hour. Required for our Bistro located at 169 RIDDIFORD STREET, NEWTOWN,WELLINGTON 6021 .

Job duties:

Some of the duties and responsibilities you will be responsible for include:

• Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and perishability.
• Maintain clean and tidy working areas to prevent cross-contamination
• Advise Kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety
• Regulating the temperature of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
• Preparation of food item such as steaks, burgers, Indo- Kiwi and multicuisine and finger foods and other items as per the menu following the recipes, as well as plating.
• Take a note of all stocks and inform the manager about the required stock ordering.
• Set up all the deliveries to routine customers.
• Preparing and cooking food
• Seasoning food during cooking.
• Portioning Food, placing it on plates and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
• Storing food in temperature–controlled facilities.
• Maintain kitchen health and safety compliance.
• Keep the kitchen clean.
• Other duties as required.
• Instruct the delivery staff according to the orders from specific customers.
• Keep all kitchen utensils, tools, and equipment well-maintained.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience for the role of Cook
• Minimum qualification of NZQF Level 2 can substitute the requirement of work experience.
• The selected candidate will receive detailed training.
• Basic communication skills and basic knowledge of technology to operate the equipment.
• Able to work independently and make decisions in the kitchen for the betterment of the business.
• Pass random drug and alcohol tests (when required)
• Clear criminal record
• Have an excellent manner with people, especially team members.
• Reliable and flexible to change.
• Must be able to work across any shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must be able to work in split shifts
• Must be a fit, quick thinker, reliable, trustworthy, and self-motivated
• Able to lift weights up to 25kg.
