Job summary

Xinglong Fast Food Ltd, based in Thames, Waikato, is seeking two reliable Cooks to join a busy kitchen. The role is full-time with 30–40 hours per week, offering stable hours and opportunities to contribute to daily menu preparation.

You will work as part of a small team, focusing on quality, hygiene and efficient food production to meet guests' dietary needs. NZ residence or valid NZ work visa required.

Qualifications

• At least six months of full-time work experience in food service or hospitality, or a relevant Level 4 or higher qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in any field will also be considered.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Check delivered ingredients against orders for correct quantities and freshness.
• Store and handle raw ingredients per Chef’s instructions.
• Communicate with the Chef and Manager about menu updates and planning.
• Prepare and portion ingredients required for cooking and production.
• Prepare and cook food to meet dietary requirements and maintain quality.
• Assist with pre-cooking prep and equipment checks for proper temperatures.
• Ensure all food is presented attractively and to standard before serving.
• Follow food safety, health and safety requirements.
• Perform other kitchen duties as required by the Chef or Manager.

Xinglong Fast Food Ltd is a food service business based in Thames, Waikato, providing freshly prepared food to local customers. We are currently looking for two reliable and motivated Cooks to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a minimum of 30 hours and up to 40 hours per week.

Key Duties

• Check delivered ingredients against orders to ensure the correct quantities, quality and freshness.
• Store and handle raw ingredients appropriately in accordance with the Chef’s instructions.
• Communicate effectively with the Chef and Manager regarding menu updates, preparation requirements and menu planning.
• Prepare and portion ingredients required for cooking and food production.
• Prepare and cook food to meet guests’ dietary requirements and maintain consistent food and service quality.
• Assist with pre-cooking preparation, including checking and adjusting cooking equipment to ensure the appropriate operating temperature.
• Ensure all food is presented attractively and to the required standard before being served.
• Follow all applicable food safety, health and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as reasonably required by the Chef or Manager.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• At least six months of full-time work experience in the food service or hospitality industry, or a relevant Level 4 or higher qualification.
• Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in any field will also be considered.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
• A responsible, reliable and positive attitude towards work.
• Good physical fitness and the ability to work in a busy kitchen environment.
• A good understanding of food hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• No criminal convictions.
