Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

As the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving the sales performance of your store, leading and motivating a dynamic sales team, and creating an environment where exceptional customer service and strong sales results go hand in hand.

You will take ownership of achieving sales targets, developing and coaching your team, maintaining a strong sales-focused culture, and ensuring the sales floor is presented to a high standard to deliver an inviting and engaging customer experience.

As a leader within the store, you will set clear expectations, support your team to succeed, address performance and customer issues when required, and lead by example on the sales floor. A strong understanding of our product range, our customers and the sales process will be key to your success.

Previous furniture experience is advantageous but not essential; however, a willingness to embrace the Target Furniture way is.

Just so you know, this is a full-time role, and the successful candidate will be rostered to work 40 hours per week over 5 days, including Saturday or Sunday. With our exciting new Westgate store upcoming, successful applicants will initially be based at our Sylvia Park or Wairau store before moving across to Westgate when the new store opens.

To succeed in this role, you'll have at least 2 years' supervisory and sales experience, with a proven ability to lead a team, drive sales performance and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

As with any retail role, you'll be required to work weekends and public holidays during our trading hours. The good news? We don't do late-night trading... ever!

Previous experience within the furniture industry would be an advantage, but it isn't essential. We have a structured training programme to help you learn the Target Furniture way and set you up for success.

You’ll also bring:

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop your team to achieve their individual and store sales targets.

A results-driven mindset, with the confidence to take ownership of sales performance and identify opportunities to improve results.

A collaborative, team-first approach, with honesty, integrity and open communication at the heart of how you lead.

Outstanding customer focus and relationship-building skills, with the ability to confidently manage and resolve customer issues when required.

A solutions-focused approach to challenges, with the ability to make sound decisions and take action when needed.

A strong work ethic and willingness to lead by example, including rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done alongside your team.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage the day-to-day demands of a busy retail environment.

Confidence using retail management systems and Microsoft Office.

A reasonable level of fitness, as some lifting and moving of furniture may be required as part of the role.

At Target Furniture, we are a vibrant and diverse team culture. As a growing and reputable Kiwi-owned brand, we love celebrating our achievements and fostering a fun work environment. Besides being part of an internationally spirited team, here's what you'll enjoy as part of our whānau:
