Symons Group in Taranaki is seeking a Sales & Logistics Coordinator to join our growing team. You will work directly with customers, develop practical freight solutions, prepare quotes, and coordinate with transport, warehousing, and operations to meet commitments.
We value ownership, communication, and a proactive approach. If you enjoy problem-solving, building relationships, and delivering outcomes in a fast-paced logistics environment, this is the role for you and your next career step with
Symons Group is entering an exciting period of growth across transport, warehousing, and logistics.
Our existing warehouse capacity is full; we're planning a new 1,300m² facility to go live in March 2027, and we're continuing to develop the services we provide to our customers.
To help us make the most of that opportunity, we're looking for a Sales & Logistics Coordinator to join our team.
This is a varied, customer-facing, and commercially focused role for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and taking responsibility for delivering the right outcomes.
We don't believe in passing the buck. If it's your customer, it's your responsibility to help find the solution.
Reporting to the Group Sales Manager, you'll work with customers to understand their requirements, develop practical freight solutions, and identify opportunities to grow our business.
You will be involved in preparing quotes, coordinating costs, supporting import and export movements, and working with our transport, warehousing, and operations teams to deliver on customer commitments.
We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, enjoys building relationships, and takes ownership from the initial enquiry through to the final outcome.
This is an opportunity to develop your commercial, sales, and logistics expertise within a growing business. You don't need to know everything from day one, but you do need the attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn and follow things through.
You will:
The work will be varied. One day you might be pricing a transport movement, while the next you could be developing a complete import or export solution for a customer.
Run it. Price it. Sell it. And look after customers properly.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, thinks ahead, and follows things through. Someone who wants to understand how the business works and create solutions that work for everyone involved.
You may already have experience in transport, freight forwarding, shipping, logistics, warehousing, or sales. Previous freight experience would be an advantage, but it isn't essential.
We're more interested in your attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to take ownership than whether you already know everything about freight.
Perhaps you understand kilometre rates, have experience preparing quotes, or know your way around containers, rail, ports, or warehousing.
Or maybe you're commercially minded, good with people and looking for an opportunity to build a career in sales and logistics.
We can teach you how to quote freight. What's harder to teach is genuine care, ownership and a willingness to follow things through.
We're looking for someone who:
You’ll work alongside experienced people across transport, warehousing, operations, and commercial management, developing your understanding of freight pricing, logistics solutions, and customer relationships.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to build your commercial capability and grow alongside Symons Group.
We also believe there's more to life than work. Family matters, staying active matters, and having a good life outside of work matters.
We want someone who works hard, takes pride in what they do, and values life outside the office.
Symons Group is a Taranaki-owned business operating across transport, warehousing, waste, and logistics.
With a passion for trucks, Graham Symons established Symons Transport in 1984, starting from a small farm shed with one truck. Since then, the business has grown into a group of operations delivering services to customers across New Zealand.
Our success has been built around good people, strong relationships, and getting the job done.
As Symons Group continues to grow, we're looking for people who want to contribute to that growth and develop alongside the business.
Applicants must have valid NZ residency or work visa status to be considered.
