Job summary

Invercargill City Council is seeking an experienced civil/roading professional to join our Transport and Roading team as a Roading Renewal Contract Engineer in Invercargill.

This newly created role focuses on planning and delivering roading renewals, across asset planning, contract management and project delivery, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and the future of our transport network.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, asset management or information systems.
• Experience in transport, roading or civil infrastructure environments.
• Contract administration and contractor management experience.
• Current Full New Zealand Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the development and delivery of Council's annual and long-term roading renewal programmes.
• Managing and supervising renewal contracts to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
• Undertaking site inspections, quality assurance activities and contractor performance monitoring.
• Providing technical engineering advice and contributing to network improvement initiatives.
• Supporting asset planning through analysis of asset condition and performance information.
• Preparing reports and information for management, Council and NZTA reporting requirements.
• Building positive working relationships with contractors, consultants, NZTA and internal stakeholders.

This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning and delivery of Council's roading renewals programme, working across asset planning, contract management, project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives that help shape the future of our transport network.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

What you will bring:

• Proven experience supporting roading renewal programmes and infrastructure project delivery
• Contract administration and contractor management experience
• A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
