  • Experience building team capability through clear expectations, coaching and feedback.
  • A strong grounding in billing and receivables controls, reconciliations, payment allocation, debt management and financial reporting.
  • Practical experience with overdue accounts, customer disputes, hardship and payment arrangements, and the judgement to navigate sensitive conversations.
  • The ability to design and embed procedures and quality checks, interpret revenue data, and improve enterprise billing, finance or customer systems.
  • Sound judgement around privacy, delegated authority, audit and public‑sector accountability, with the ability to translate policy and legislation into practical processes and work effectively across teams.

  • Lead credit management, collections and overdue accounts, with fair payment arrangements and thoughtful support for customers facing hardship.
  • Oversee the invoicing and collection of development contributions and other levies, working with assessment teams and shareholder councils through transition.

Descripción del empleo

Bring your revenue expertise to Waikato Waters. Build a new function, lead a team, and shape fair, reliable billing that delivers for our communities.

06th November, 2026
He kōrero mō mātou | About us

Your water. Your community. Waikato Waters is a publicly owned water utility delivering water and wastewater services across the Waikato region. Operational since 1 July 2026, we’re building services for our communities today and for generations to come. Join us and help shape our next chapter.

Te tūranga | The role

This is an opportunity to build a revenue function, not just manage an established one. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll help prepare for the transfer of billing from six shareholder councils in July 2027, when we begin billing customers directly. You’ll build and lead a team of six Revenue and Billing Analysts, establish practical controls and procedures, and shape the way we work from day one. As the function grows, you’ll lead billing, receipting, collections and customer account management – balancing revenue integrity with care for people experiencing payment difficulty.

Ō mahi | What you’ll do
  • Build, coach and lead your team, giving people clear direction and the confidence to make sound decisions.
  • Shape reliable billing and payment processes—from accurate invoices and payment allocation to reconciliations and account maintenance.

  • Lead credit management, collections and overdue accounts, with fair payment arrangements and thoughtful support for customers facing hardship.

  • Turn revenue and debt data into clear insights, and partner across Finance, Customer, Digital, Technology and operational teams to improve systems, manage risk and make services easier to deliver.
Ō pūkenga | What you’ll bring

You’ll enjoy this role if you like turning complexity into clear, practical ways of working. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, willing to roll up your sleeves and able to bring people with you through change. You know that strong revenue outcomes and respectful customer service go hand in hand.

  • 7–10 years’ experience in revenue and billing or related areas, including leadership in billing, accounts receivable, credit management or a comparable high-volume financial operation.

He aha ai mātou | Why join us

Bring your experience to a role where you can see what you’ve helped build: a capable team, reliable revenue processes and a fairer customer experience. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how the function operates ahead of direct billing in July 2027, with work that supports essential services for our communities. We offer competitive remuneration, health insurance, and hybrid working where the role allows.
