Job summary

Thai Silk Restaurant in Hastings is seeking a Restaurant Manager to lead daily operations, supervise a front-of-house team, and uphold high service and food safety standards.

You will collaborate with the Head Chef on menu and beverage offerings, plan events, control costs, and drive the venue’s financial success while working a 30–45 hour week on a rotating Tuesday–Sunday roster.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant work experience or NZQF level 5+ qualification in management/business/hospitality.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations from setup to close.
• Lead front-of-house staff, train and mentor the team.
• Ensure strict food safety and service standards.
• Plan, organise, and execute private functions and events.
• Monitor purchasing and pricing to align with budget.
• Collaborate with Head Chef on menu and beverage offerings.

The Role

We are seeking a Restaurant Manager to join our leadership team. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day operations, lead a passionate front-of-house team, and maintain the immaculate standards that we are proud of. You will work closely with the Head Chef to shape our food and beverage offerings and drive financial success.

Key Responsibilities

• Menu Planning:Work with the chef to manage the food and beverage program, actively contributing to the selection, sourcing, and curation of the menu and beverage list.
• Operations:Oversee all daily restaurant operations, ensuring seamless service from setup to close.
• Team Leadership:Select, train, mentor, and manage front-of-house staff to maintain a high-performing team.
• Quality & Safety:Establish and enforce strict food safety and service standards across the venue.
• Event Management:Plan, organize, and execute special private functions and bespoke dining events.
• Financial Management:Monitor purchasing and price levels to align strictly with the establishment's budget.
