Job summary

OceanaGold in Otago, NZ, invites applications for a Cabolt Operator to join the Macraes underground operations. This residential role replaces FIFO and lets you live in the stunning Otago region, with weekends for hiking, fishing and skiing.

Your duties include drilling, installing and grouting ground support cables per the ground plans, with a 90 metre daily target, ensuring safe operation and reporting on the Daily Drill Sheet.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in underground mining.
• Current Cabolter Ticket.
• Full and current driver’s licence with experience driving manual vehicles over rough terrain.

Responsibilities

• Meet the minimum target of 90 metres of continuous cable bolt holes drilled and installed per shift.
• Ensure equipment is used effectively and report damage immediately.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards on the Cabolter machine and work area.
• Accurate reporting on the Daily Drill Sheet to track metres drilled and grouted.
• Complete pre-starts and workplace inspections as required.
• Perform thorough face-to-face handovers with cross-shift team.
• Demonstrate compliance with underground procedures relevant to the position.
