OceanaGold Corporation in Otago, NZ, is seeking a Cabolt Operator for our Macraes underground site. This is a residential role with a 7 days on / 7 days off roster, avoiding FIFO and offering a balanced life in the Otago region.

Responsibilities include drilling, installing and grouting ground support cables per plans, while maintaining safety and efficiency. Applicants must have 3+ years underground mining experience and a current Cabolter Ticket, plus a valid manual driving licence.

• Full and current driver licence with confidence driving manual vehicles over rough terrain.

Job Description

Please note this role requires previous underground mining experience. A relocation will be required if living outside of the Otago region.

Our Macraes underground operations team are on the search for a Cabolt Operator. The primary objective of these roles is to drill, install and grout ground support cables as per the ground support plans in a safe and efficient manner.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• To meet the minimum target of an average of 90 metres of linear metre cable bolt holes (single or twin strand cables) drilled and installed per shift operating.
• To ensure that equipment is utilised effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure damage is kept to a minimum and reported immediately.
• Maintains excellent standards of housekeeping on the Sandvik Cabolter machine and work area.
• Accurate and thorough reporting recorded on the Daily Drill Sheet to track metres drilled and grouted.
• Pre-starts 100% completed, workplace inspection completed as required.
• Ensure a thorough face to face handover is completed with the cross shift members.
• Demonstrate compliance with underground procedures relevant to the position.

Qualifications

• Full and current driver licence and confidence driving manual vehicles over rough terrain
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in underground mining
• Passed out and hold a current Cabolter Ticket
• Demonstrated compliance with Company policies and procedures
