Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a national logistics enterprise, is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Remote Transportation Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and standards across their operations. This is a fully remote position, empowering you to uphold critical compliance measures from your home office anywhere in South Africa . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs related to transportation safety, environmental regulations, and driver conduct. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of South African transport laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable policies. This role demands integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and external bodies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive transportation compliance programs and policies.
• Stay abreast of all current and upcoming South African transportation laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance gaps.
• Develop and deliver training materials to staff on transportation compliance matters.
• Investigate any compliance-related incidents or violations, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and authorities on behalf of the company.
• Maintain accurate records of all compliance activities, permits, licenses, and certifications.
• Monitor driver records, vehicle safety standards, and operational procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related legal/safety role within the logistics sector.
• In-depth knowledge of South African National Road Traffic Act, AARTO, and other relevant transportation legislation.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulations clearly.
• Experience conducting audits and risk assessments.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities autonomously in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in using compliance management software and MS Office Suite.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
