Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Subsurface Geologist for a fully remote role focused on exploration within the oil and gas sector. You will analyze seismic data, well logs, and cores to identify hydrocarbon plays and build integrated subsurface models.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in exploration geology, strong software skills (Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom Suite), and a track record of independent project management in remote settings. Global teamwork and knowledge sharing are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in exploration geology within the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological and geophysical software for data interpretation (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, and petrophysics.
• Experience in prospect mapping, risk assessment, and volumetric calculations.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting geological data (seismic, well logs, core data, outcrop data) to characterize subsurface reservoirs.
• Identifying and evaluating potential exploration prospects and plays.
• Integrating geological, geophysical, and engineering data to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Assessing geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration targets.
• Collaborating remotely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams.
• Contributing to exploration strategy development and prospect maturation.
• Preparing detailed geological reports, presentations, and recommendations.
• Keeping abreast of new geological concepts, technologies, and exploration methodologies.
• Participating in peer reviews and technical discussions to ensure quality of geological interpretations.
