Job summary

Placements24 is hiring a Senior Materials Engineer for a fully remote global team. You will guide material selection, perform failure analyses, and develop QA protocols for infrastructure projects, leveraging deep cementitious materials, aggregates, polymers, and composites.

Strong remote collaboration and reporting skills are essential. You will review standards (ASTM/BS/ISO), lead testing protocol development, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Civil Engineering (with a materials specialization), or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in materials engineering, with a focus on construction materials.
• In-depth knowledge of concrete technology, asphalt, steel, aggregates, and advanced composite materials.
• Proven experience in materials failure analysis and performance evaluation.
• Familiarity with international material standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, ISO) and their application.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous approach to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration.
• Proficiency in relevant software for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
• Membership in relevant professional materials organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice on the selection, specification, and application of construction materials for infrastructure projects.
• Conduct detailed failure analysis of existing materials and structures, identifying root causes and recommending remedial actions.
• Develop and review material testing protocols, quality assurance plans, and quality control procedures.
• Evaluate the performance of new and innovative materials, assessing their suitability for specific project requirements.
• Interpret laboratory test results and provide recommendations based on material properties and performance criteria.
• Collaborate remotely with project engineers, designers, and site personnel to address material-related challenges.
• Contribute to the development and updating of company material standards and specifications.
• Mentor and guide junior materials engineers and technicians through remote channels.
• Stay abreast of global advancements in materials science and construction technology relevant to civil engineering.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and presentations for clients and internal teams.
