Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a prominent national engineering firm to recruit a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer. The role is fully remote within South Africa, design and detail bridge structures, and support rehabilitation and new construction projects with a focus on safety and code compliance.

Requirements include a Master’s in Structural Engineering, 8+ years in bridge work, Pr Eng is desirable, and proficiency with MIDAS Civil, LUSAS Bridge, SAP2000.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in structural bridge engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of bridges, including concrete, steel, and composite.
• Perform complex structural analysis using specialist software.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings and specs.
• Ensure designs comply with codes including SANRAL requirements.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers and designers.
• Review shop drawings and respond to contractor queries.
• Mentor junior bridge engineers and provide technical leadership.
• Stay updated on new bridge engineering materials and methods.
• Contribute to technical proposals and business development.
