Job summary

Patriam Studios in New Zealand invites a Junior Creature Artist to join our art department remotely. You will focus on organic sculpting of non-humanoid creatures, blending real animal anatomy with dark mythic themes and preparing assets for a commercial pipeline.

You will collaborate with senior artists, maintain high fidelity textures, and ensure models are optimized for animation rigs while staying within NZ market standards for entry-level compensation.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role focused on organic sculpting and non-humanoid design.
• NZ-based remote work with NZ residency.
• Portfolio with non-human subjects.
• Familiar with game-ready topology and UV layouts.

Responsibilities

• Anatomical Invention: design and sculpt high-poly creature models blending real animal biology with dark mythological themes.
• Production Optimization: retopologize dense sculpts into clean, game-ready low-poly meshes.
• Technical Rig Preparation: collaborate with technical animators to verify bone placement and skin-weight performance.
• Surface Articulation: apply high-fidelity skin, fur, feather, and scale details using PBR texturing techniques.
