Job summary

Skills Institute is seeking an experienced Industry Trainer to join our team in a full-time permanent capacity. This role can be fully remote for applicants across New Zealand, with on-site days required for Auckland-based staff at our Wiri campus.

You will support learners completing the New Zealand Certificate in Intelligence (Information Management) Level 5 & Level 3, helping them build practical skills, knowledge, and confidence for success across intelligence, law enforcement, defence,

Qualifications

• Significant operational experience in intelligence or information management.
• Experience in government intelligence, law enforcement, defence, or related fields.
• Minimum Level 5 qualification in intelligence or related field.
• Hold Unit Standard 4098, or willing to obtain with Skills Group's support.
• Strong analytical thinking and written communication.
• Ability to explain complex intelligence concepts clearly to adult learners.
• Experience delivering training, coaching, or mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging learning sessions covering intelligence concepts and programme requirements.
• Mentor multiple learner cohorts with regular progress check-ins.
• Assess learner work and provide timely feedback for successful outcomes.
• Monitor engagement, attendance, and progression; maintain records.
• Answer learner questions and guide them throughout the qualification journey.
• Ensure compliance with assessment, moderation, and NZQA requirements.
