Job summary

AfterQuery is hiring chemical engineers as contractors to author and grade the process design and safety scenarios those evaluations run on. Remote, async, paid weekly.

We offer $100 to $130/hr, paid weekly via Stripe, with a minimum of 10 hours per week and ongoing project work. Responsibilities include authoring realistic process scenarios, grading model outputs for technical accuracy and safety, and flagging designs that may seem plausible but are unsafe at scale.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field.
• 2+ years of process, plant, or product engineering experience.
• Depth in process design, process safety, or scale up.
• Clear written English for documenting process reasoning.
• Able to commit at least 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Author realistic process scenarios from mass balances through safety review.
• Write reference answers with the process and safety reasoning behind each decision.
• Grade model output for technical accuracy and process safety.
• Flag designs that read plausible but would be unsafe or infeasible at scale.
