Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a PhD-level Biochemist to help train and refine AI models in life sciences. This fully remote contract role leverages your deep biochemistry expertise to design problems and generate ground-truth solutions.

You will audit AI outputs, identify errors in stoichiometry, kinetics, and pathways, and provide precise feedback to improve AI reasoning. This engagement offers 10–40 hours/week with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
• Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or pharmacology.
• Clear Scientific Communicator: Able to explain complex biological and chemical concepts precisely and concisely in written form.
• Detail-Oriented: High precision when working with chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design Advanced Problems: Construct challenging biochemistry problems across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI performance.
• Create Ground-Truth Solutions: Author rigorous, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems.
• Audit AI Outputs: Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for scientific accuracy, safety, and correctness.
• Refine AI Reasoning: Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied kinetic models — and provide structured feedback to improve how the AI thinks through life science problems.
