Job summary

The Fono in Henderson is seeking a compassionate Social Worker to join our Kahu Taurima team. You will work directly with Pacific families in the Waitematā region, providing strengths-based support, advocacy, assessment, and referrals to access essential services.

You will collaborate with nurses, support workers and partners to deliver holistic care and promote wellbeing for Pacific communities. A recognised social services qualification and SWRB registration are welcomed.

Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised qualification in social services.
  • Have current SWRB registration or be eligible for registration.
  • Experience working with Pacific families and communities.
  • Understand and value Pacific cultures, traditions, and ways of working.
  • Able to build trusted relationships with diverse communities.
  • Hold a Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete social assessments and identify family strengths and needs.
  • Support families with housing, financial, wellbeing, and social challenges.
  • Connect families with community resources and essential services.
  • Build relationships with agencies such as WINZ, Kāinga Ora, and health providers.
  • Conduct home visits and provide practical support and advocacy.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, support workers, and community partners.

We are seeking a compassionate and culturally grounded Social Worker to join our Kahu Taurima team based in Henderson.

About the Role

As a Kahu Taurima Social Worker, you will work directly with Pacific families across the Waitematā region, providing strengths-based support, advocacy, assessment, and referrals to help families access the services they need.

You will:

  • Complete social assessments and identify family strengths and needs
  • Support families with housing, financial, wellbeing, and social challenges
  • Connect families with community resources and essential services
  • Build strong relationships with agencies such as WINZ, Kāinga Ora, and health providers
  • Conduct home visits and provide practical support and advocacy

  • Promote wellbeing, early intervention, and positive outcomes for Pacific families

What You Will Bring

  • Hold a recognised qualification in social services
  • Have current Social Worker Registration Board (SWRB) registration
  • Have experience working with Pacific families and communities
  • Understand and value Pacific cultures, traditions, and ways of working
  • Can build trusted relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Are organised, adaptable, and able to manage a varied caseload
  • Hold a Full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Pacific language skills and strong connections within Pacific communities are highly valued
