Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Hawke's Bay is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to work in the Preadmissions team at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital. You will assess patients prior to surgery, plan care, educate patients and whānau, and ensure they are well informed about their procedure.

Registered Nurse - Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital

Fixed Term, Part - Time, 64 hours per fortnight (0.8FTE)

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in preparing patients for surgery, using your clinical expertise to improve patient outcomes while working within a supportive and collaborative perioperative team.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in Preadmissions, you will play an important role in preparing patients for surgery by undertaking comprehensive nursing assessments, identifying health needs, planning care and ensuring patients are well informed before their procedure. You will provide evidence-based education and advice, helping patients and whānau make informed decisions and feel confident about their treatment journey. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, support patient safety and contribute to high quality clinical outcomes. You will have the opportunity to develop your professional practice, support the learning of others and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment. About you

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering safe and compassionate patient care.

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • At least three years of surgical ward or perioperative nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong time management, organisational and digital literacy skills.
  • Commitment to professional development, quality improvement and culturally responsive care.
