Job summary

Tui Ora in Whaitara Health Centre seeks a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, whānau-centred care at Whaitara Health Centre. You will conduct assessments, provide treatment, health promotion, and education to individuals and whānau within the Whānau Ora framework.

The role requires NZ Nursing Council registration with a current Practising Certificate; two years’ experience preferred; knowledge of NZ healthcare and tikanga Māori; a full NZ driver licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with Nursing Council NZ and hold a current Practising Certificate.
  • Two years' practice nurse experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of NZ healthcare and whānau-centred care.
  • Ability to work with Māori communities and apply tikanga Māori (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing services.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, treatments, health promotion and education.
  • Provide culturally responsive care within the Whānau Ora framework.
  • Collaborate with kaimahi and whānau to improve health outcomes.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, whānau-centred nursing services. This includes clinical assessment, treatment, health promotion and education to individuals, whānau and the wider community. The role contributes to improved health outcomes through collaborative, culturally responsive care in line with the Whānau Ora model and within the scope of nursing practice.

Kia ekena a angitū | To promote success in this role, you will
  • Have Registration with Nursing Council of NZ with a current NZ Practicing Certificate
  • Have at least two years’ Practice Nurse experience preferred
  • Have a good knowledge of healthcare in Aotearoa/New Zealand
  • Ensure you provide a safe, professional service to whānau
  • Be passionate about providing health services that meet the needs of the community and are of high quality
  • Understand the health needs of different communities and be able to build a rapport with those from diverse backgrounds
  • Be able to demonstrate practical understanding of the aspirations and challenges facing Māori communities
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • A working knowledge of a Patient Management Systems is preferred e.g. Indici
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to lead and work as part of a team
  • Excellent organisation skills and able to take responsibility for completion of tasks
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrated by a high level of integrity, reliability, efficiency, and self-management
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with whānau and kaimahi.
  • Experience in applying tikanga Māori as it applies in the role (desirable)
  • A full, clean NZ Driver Licence.
