Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Palmerston North is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our casual pool at the village. You will work as part of a supportive team, delivering quality aged care and upholding our resident-directed approach to care.

A NZ Registration with a current Practising Certificate is required, along with the ability to lead on shifts, stay calm under pressure, and build rapport with residents and their families.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and current Practising Certificate required.
• Experience in aged care or retirement village setting preferred.
• Ability to lead shifts and make sound clinical decisions.
• Strong communication and rapport-building with residents and families.

Responsibilities

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care.
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments.
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions.
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress with the resident and their family.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift.
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in our casual pool at our Palmerston North village, you will be part of a team of casuals that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

As a casual you will need to be available often at short notice for a variety of shifts.

Typical Duties Include

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

• A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead, remain calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient
