Job summary

Summerset is seeking a Registered Nurse for a casual pool at the Trentham village, providing high‑quality aged care with a resident‑directed approach. You will join a team of casuals focused on enriching quality of life for residents who often stay long term.

Typical duties include managing residents’ daily needs, creating care plans, leading shifts, and guiding carers on duty while building strong relationships with residents and families.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate are required.
• Genuine interest in working with older people in retirement village care.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, stay calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient.
• Good communication and rapport-building with residents, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage residents’ daily needs from clinical to end‑of‑life care.
• Create and follow long‑term care plans and clinical assessments.
• Take charge on shifts and make appropriate clinical decisions.
• Deliver planned nursing care and evaluate progress with residents and families.

As a Registered Nurse in our casual pool at our Trentham village, you will be part of a team of casuals that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

This is a casual role, working on an 'as and when required' basis.

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

• A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
