Job summary

Summerset is hiring a Registered Nurse for the casual pool at the Trentham village. You will join a team delivering quality aged care and fostering a lifestyle that residents enjoy, with resident-directed care at its core.

You will manage clinical and daily needs, develop care plans, and provide guidance to carers while building strong relationships with residents and families. This is a casual, as‑and‑when‑required position.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and a current Practising Certificate are required.
• Genuine interest in working with older people and understanding of clinical services in a retirement village.
• Ability to take the lead, stay calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage residents’ everyday needs across clinical and end‑of‑life care.
• Create and follow long‑term care plans and clinical assessments.
• Take charge on shifts and make appropriate clinical decisions.
• Deliver planned nursing care and evaluate progress with residents and families.

As a Registered Nurse in our casual pool at our Trentham village, you will be part of a team of casuals that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

This is a casual role, working on an 'as and when required' basis.

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

You’ll bring with you:
