Job summary

Christchurch Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten in Canterbury seeks registered ECE/primary teachers to work with 2-6 year olds within our Steiner-based curriculum. The role is full-time and fixed-term from 27 Jan 2027 to 17 Dec 2027.

You will contribute to a warm, collaborative team, honour te reo Māori and tikanga while nurturing curiosity through play and hands-on activities in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Registered ECE/primary teacher or eligible for registration.

About the role

At Christchurch Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten, play is the child’s work. It is a place where childhood is cherished, and a sense of wonder is nurtured. Tamariki can freely develop and learn through imitation and doing rather than formal academic learning. A harmonious daily rhythm provides a balance between self-directed play and teacher-led group activities.

We seek registered ECE/ primary or unqualified teachers to work with 2-6 year old tamariki within our special character curriculum.

The ideal applicant has knowledge and experience of Steiner early childhood education; is warm and approachable, creative, and positive; works collaboratively and supportively within a team; has strong communication skills; is calm, unhurried, and respectful with tamariki; and is committed to ongoing development in our special character and te reo and tikanga Māori.
