Job summary

CPR Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Limited in Taupo is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to manage the full lifecycle of refrigeration systems, including installation, servicing, and maintenance. You will handle dairy farm refrigeration, truck units, CO2 transcritical systems, and walk-in chillers.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, designing system requirements, and performing preventative maintenance with safety at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in refrigeration systems.
• NZ residency or valid NZ work visa required.
• Current EST or Electrician Installer Licence preferred.
• Valid Driver's Licence and clean criminal record.
• Ability to work with dairy farm refrigeration and CO2 systems.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our expanding team based in the scenic Taupo region. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of a diverse range of refrigeration systems, encompassing installation, servicing, and proactive maintenance. This includes:

Dairy Farm Refrigeration Systems

Truck Refrigeration Units (specifically Thermoking and Carrier)

CO2 transcritical systems

Walk in chiller / freezers installation

Key Responsibilities:

Expertly install, service, and maintain a variety of refrigeration systems, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

Accurately diagnose and efficiently repair faults in refrigeration systems, minimising downtime for our clients.

Design and assess refrigeration system requirements, providing tailored solutions to meet client needs.

Conduct thorough routine maintenance and preventative maintenance checks, adhering to established schedules and best practices.

Precisely measure and cut piping, utilising welding equipment with a high degree of skill and safety.

Ensure strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations and quality standards, prioritising a safe working environment.

Meticulously maintain accurate records of all work performed, including service reports, maintenance logs, and documentation.

Provide exceptional customer service, building strong and lasting relationships with our valued clients through clear communication and a professional demeanour.

Collaborate effectively within a team environment and demonstrate the ability to work independently when required.

Comprehensive understanding of fundamental refrigeration principles and proven practical application.

Knowledge of CO2 refrigeration and, critically, CO2 heat water systems, including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. This includes familiarity with the unique properties of CO2 as a refrigerant and heat transfer medium, as well as associated safety protocols and best practices.

Demonstrated and verifiable experience in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial refrigeration systems.

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.

Proficiency in welding and pipe fitting techniques, adhering to industry standards.

Experience working with fluorocarbon (F-gas) refrigerants, with a thorough understanding of handling and recovery procedures.

Current EST (Electrical Service Technician) or Electrician Installer Licence (preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of electrical safety and system integration).

Valid Driver's Licence.

Clean criminal record.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong work ethic, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

Specific experience working with dairy farm refrigeration systems and their unique demands.

Familiarity and hands-on experience with specific refrigeration brands, particularly Thermoking and Carrier transport refrigeration units.

Days of work, Monday to Friday with some weekends required as a on call duties.
